Every parent in Edison wants the same thing for their athlete: to get faster, move better, and step onto the field with confidence. That doesn't come from one more season of the same practice — it comes from real athletic development. At Plus2 Performance, we build the movement engine underneath the sport, so your athlete improves at everything they play.
Why Edison parents start here
Youth sports in Central Jersey are more competitive every year — travel teams, tryouts, and kids specializing earlier than ever. What most young athletes are actually missing isn't more reps of their sport; it's the athletic base underneath it: how to accelerate, decelerate, change direction, and move with control. That's exactly what we coach.
Our staff has trained and competed at the college and professional level, including a former NY Giant. They know how to teach movement in a way that clicks for an 11-year-old and challenges a varsity starter — and they build every athlete up from sound positions before chasing complexity. No wall of machines, no crowded floor. Just focused coaching in a room where your athlete's name is known.
We don't just train football players. We build athletes — and better athletes win in every sport.
What your athlete develops
- Speed & acceleration — clean first steps and top-end mechanics so they beat opponents to the ball. Speed & agility training →
- Agility & change of direction — sharper cuts, better footwork, and control at game speed.
- Strength & power — age-appropriate strength that transfers to explosiveness and helps reduce injury risk.
- Coordination & body control — the movement literacy that makes every skill easier to learn.
- Confidence — the quiet result of getting measurably better. It shows up in tryouts and in games.
Built for every sport
Athletic ability is transferable. A faster, more coordinated athlete is better at soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, football, lacrosse, and track alike. We tailor the emphasis to your athlete's sport and position — a soccer midfielder and a corner infielder need different things — but the foundation we build serves all of them.
Tell us your athlete's age, sport, and goals and we'll point you to the right starting setup — a 4-week speed & agility pack, 1-on-1 personal training, or softball-specific work. For high-schoolers eyeing the next level, ask about college recruiting training. Start with a single session and see the difference.
When should my athlete start?
The best window to build speed and coordination is younger than most people think — ages 8 to 14 is prime, but there's real gain through high school and into college prep. If your athlete is heading into a season, chasing a travel-team spot, or just getting outrun, now is the time. Everything scales to their level, so there's no "getting in shape first."
New to us? Book a single session, tell the coach your athlete's sport and goal, and we'll take it from there.
Youth athletic training FAQ
What age should kids start athletic training?
Most athletes start with us between ages 8 and 14, when coordination, speed, and movement habits develop fastest — but we train through high school as well. Everything is scaled to the athlete's age and current level, so there's no minimum fitness required to begin.
Do you only train football players?
No. Our athletic training is sport-agnostic — the speed, agility, strength, and coordination we build carry across soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, football, and more. We tailor the work to the demands of your athlete's sport and position.
How much does youth athletic training cost?
A first session is $30 with no membership required. From there, athletes typically train in focused blocks — the 4-week speed and agility pack is $400 for 8 one-on-one sessions, and small-group options are available. We'll recommend the right setup for your athlete's age, sport, and goals.
